Silhouette mode opens on a very tight close-up of one point along a character outline. With every wrong guess the view pulls back a step and recenters, until the whole silhouette is visible on the tenth try.
The opening frame shows roughly a tenth of the image. The first steps open up widely, then the progression slows toward the end, so most of the shape is revealed around the middle of the game. A lock of hair, a hat, a weapon carried on the back are sometimes enough to settle it well before the full zoom-out.
From the fifth try onward, an optional hint lights up the visible part of the outline in color, for half the score of the round. It helps most on characters whose color is their identity, a head of red hair or an outfit recognized at a glance.
229 of the 303 characters in the game can come up: only those whose silhouette has been cut out enter the draw. That selection grows as new ones are added, without ever changing days already played.
